Talk:How to convert Quicken file

I think this page needs major expansion. The first thing that I would add is a warning that My Money does not allow transactions of zero amount. Zero amount transactions including voided transactions will not be imported. To avoid losing these, change the amount to a non-zero value, such as 0.01 either before exporting to QIF or with a text editor in the QIF file. The latter is fairly easy with search and replace on $0.00. Then it will be necessary to individually void these transactions in My Money after the import. One way to find them is to filter register lists on 0.01.

Some users may find it useful to create a category with a name like zComment to apply to all Quicken transactions that should have a zero amount after import into My Money.

My Money ignores account and category lists that Quicken may include in QIF exports, except for accounts and categories that actually are used in the transactions.

Be careful not to import investment transactions unless the My Money investment module is installed and ready to accept them.
